PUCCINI, THE FEMALE UNIVERSE

The soprano from Guipúzcoa is without a doubt one of this summer event's most emblematic artists. Her début at the Carmen Church, accompanied by the Victoria de los Ángeles Orchestra, is one of the must-see concerts for the Festival's music-loving audiences. Etched on our memory is The Secret Marriage by Cimarosa with baritone Carlos Álvarez, or her Violetta Valery in La Traviata However, her participation in the festival doesn't end here, as Arteta has sung from Lied to Latin American songs at the festival and has even ventured into great pop, rock and jazz songs on her autobiographical album, La Vida. Now having a matured, Arteta will be singing again at the festival as a great Puccini performer. To mark the tenth anniversary of the Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation, the foundation will show audiences an unseen and unknown side to the soprano: Victoria was a prolific writer of poetry, not a poet, but during her life she wrote many poems, some of which were a tribute to the heroines in Puccini's work. During the concert and in homage to the great soprano from Barcelona, the young composer Pedro Pardo will be premièring two poems from her poetry legacy. The young newly-created Victoria de los Ángeles Orchestra, which made its début in January at the TNC, will bring a touch of music to the evening during which the two sopranos will join together in their love for the composer from Lucca.
