The Festival opens with a lyrical concert, with legendary actor John Malkovich as director and actor-narrator, inspired by the drama experienced by Austrian serial killer Jack Unterweger, sentenced in 1974 for the murder of 12 prostitutes and who has since become a writer. Released in 1990, thanks to an international campaign that fought for his alleged rehabilitation, he was back in prison in 1994 accused of as many homicides again and committed suicide as he could not bear a life behind bars. Music by Vivaldi, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Boccherini and Weber illustrates this astonishing descent into hell, which has its Spanish premiere in Peralada.
