To speak of the American Ballet is to speak of a vital part of the history of classical dance. Considered one of the world’s most important companies, the ABT has been the cradle of choreographers, dancers and creations deemed legendary. For 14 years, the American Ballet II has presented its own season in New York and toured throughout North America; it currently has 14 highly talented dancers ranging in age from 16 to 20, recruited from around the world and is, logically, the main company’s academy. In Peralada this summer, the company will be presenting some examples of its more emblematic works that are not purely limited to the classical repertoire, as part of the dancers’ training also includes more representative pieces from modern dance.
