Haydn, whose death we are commemorating this year, Mozart and Beethoven, the latter filtered by the restless Delfí Colomé, are three composers who left a very definite mark on the idiosyncrasies of western chamber music. Haydn defined the form of the classical quartet, which Mozart and Beethoven would go on to develop. For his part, the composer from Salzburg gave the clarinet a protagonism which until then was unheard-of and left behind some of the most passionate compositions for the instrument. What we have in terms of Colomé’s work, is a fun experiment that works, with a great sense of humour, the famous Per a Elisa with Chuck Berry and his legendary Roll Over Beethoven. |
