Homage to Schumann and Chopin
Piano recitals are to be the stars of Saturday: every Saturday, at the emblematic Iglesia del Carmen, in collaboration with Juventudes Musicales de España Juventudes Musicales de España. Just as it should be, the programmes chosen for the 2010 cycle celebrate the Year of Chopin and the Year of Schumann. The bicentenary of the Chopin, the father of modern piano music, and Schumann, the ultimate expression of German Romanticism, will form the focus of menus drawn up by the four artists in the cycle, young musicians Leopoldo Erice, José Enrique Bagaría, Alexei Lebedev and Eleuterio Domínguez, all accredited – and award-winning – keyboard performers who could not let the opportunity of paying homage to these two geniuses of the piano pass them by. While Erice is interested solely in these composers, Bagaría will also be offering a review of works by Haydn, Debussy and Albéniz; Lebedev tends more towards Scarlatti and also Haydn; and Domínguez towards Falla, Albéniz and his own Sensaciones de un camino. Homenaje a Jordi Roch (2006). The best young pianists at Peralada. |
