RECITAL

To commemorate the centenary of the birth of Miguel Hernández, one of the most universal Spanish poets of the twentieth century, Mario Gas has added his name to the many acts being held throughout 2010, the Year of Miguel Hernández. The well-known actor, theatre manager and film director will be on one of the Festival’s more intimate stages, reciting a selection of texts by the talented writer from Alicante, which he himself has chosen. The figure of Miguel Hernández, whose sudden death aged thirty-one, connects the heart to a profoundly socially and politically committed individual, whose poetry displays beauty, pain, heroism and true feelings seldom seen in the history of literature. Gas will use this delightful guide as he pays homage to one of the greats of modern poetry.
