Erika Grimaldi, new soprano at the opening gala

Tenor Piotr Beczala will be accompanied at the opening gala on Friday 11 July by soprano Erika Grimaldi, as singer Sonya Yoncheva has been forced to cancel her appearance due to her pregnancy. The young Italian soprano will be making her début in Spain after her recent successes as Micaela in Carmen at the Opera di Roma, as Matilde in William Tell and as Ameliade in Simon Boccanegra, both at the Teatro Regio in Turin. The scheduled programme with Piotr Beczala and Erika Grimaldi will feature the most famous arias and duets of the French and Italian repertoire, accompanied by the Orquestra de Cadaquès, conducted by Marc Piollet.
