BRYAN FERRY AND FRANCO BATTIATO: FIRST NAMES IN THE PERALADA FESTIVAL SUMMER OF MUSIC

Superstars Bryan Ferry and Franco Battiato will be making their débuts this summer in the Castle Park Auditorium in the 31st edition of the Castell de Peralada Festival on the evenings of 21 and 22 July, respectively.

Bryan Ferry is one of the icons of rock who continues to dazzle audiences with his elegant and seductive voice. The former singer with Roxy Music – one of the most eclectic and innovative groups in the history of music, creators of songs that have become essential, such as More Than This, Virginia Plain and Avalon – will be making his début at the Castell de Peralada Festival on the evening of 21 July. This prolific songwriter with a glittering solo career and influencer of more than one generation with his dandy look has always been bold; he gave a voice to the Great American Songbook and jazz standards, he has brought out covers of Bob Dylan classics, he has worked with electronic music producers DJ Hell and Todd Terje, and he has recreated his own compositions – from Roxy Music to the Olympia album (2010) – in 1920s jazz style on his The Jazz Age album, released in 2012 with The Bryan Ferry Orchestra. In Peralada, the British artiste will be taking a look back at some of the many hits in his extensive career, with such songs as Slave to Love, Don’t Stop the Dance and Let's Stick Together.

On the evening of 22 July, the star of the show will be Franco Battiato. This singer-songwriter, musician, lyricist, composer, film-maker, painter, intellectual... is, without a doubt, one of the leading figures on the Italian and European cultural scene. His music is constantly evolving, which is why his discography includes works ranging from avant-garde and experimental music, through prog rock and new wave, to classical and opera. Creator of such well-known hits as Voglio Vederti Danzare, Propiedad Prohibida, Bandiera Bianca and Centro Di Gravità Permanente, he will be showing off his eternal youth and immense musical talent in Peralada with a string and piano quartet.
