Singer and actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, tenor Juan Diego Flórez and conductor Gustavo Dudamel will be performing at the 33rd edition of the Festival.

After announcing the participation of Cuban dancer Carlos Acosta and his young and talented Acosta Danza company in the next Castell de Peralada Festival, three more names join this summer’s line-up: Charlotte Gainsbourg, Juan Diego Flórez and Gustavo Dudamel will be performing on 6 July, 9 August and 10 August, respectively.

Anglo-French singer, actress and director Charlotte Gainsbourg, daughter of singer-songwriters and actors Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin – true French icons – will be making her début at the Castell de Peralada Festival on the evening of 6 July, where she’ll be presenting her latest record REST: her fifth studio album, published in late 2017. After the tragic death of her sister Kate Barry, Gainsbourg went to live in New York to begin a new stage in her life. Produced by SebastiAn, on the Ed Banger label, in REST, Gainsbourg talks about herself. With a backdrop of electronic music in harmony with her desire to obtain a sound with an unsettling and mechanical nuance, Gainsbourg presents an uncompromising self-portrait that has won acclaim from the international press as one of the best albums of 2017 (Pitchfork, The Guardian, The Independent, Les Inrockuptibles, etc.).

If the festival surprised last year with an exceptional weekend with Javier Camarena, Jonas Kaufmann and Plácido Domingo in its line-up, this summer, Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez and charismatic Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel will be starring in two of the unmissable evenings of the Catalan summer.

On 9 August, tenor Juan Diego Flórez returns to the Festival with a lyric concert, at the Castle Park Auditorium. Owner of one of the most desired and sought-after voices by the best opera houses worldwide, the romantic bel canto tenor par excellence will be singing alongside young Armenian soprano Ruzan Mantashyan. Together, they will offer the audience a programme featuring the best duets and arias of the French and Italian romantic repertoire, with conductor Guillermo García Calvo leading the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallés. The following evening, the same stage will play host to one of the most prestigious conductors today. Gustavo Dudamel, resident conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orquesta Sinfònica Simón Bolívar, will land at the Castell de Peralada Festival on 10 August, accompanied by the prestigious Mahler Chamber Orchestra in a unique programme that turns it into quite an event: A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Felix Mendelssohn, with actress María Valverde as the narrator, and Gustav Mahler’s Titan, one of the most loved and performed symphonies by the great composer, in the second part of the programme.
