HORT / GARDEN
Hort / Garden is a new and undisciplined performance. Hybrid and dynamic, it was conceived by the creative mind of Elena Tarrats, an actress, singer and composer. It unfolds as an "opera-monologue" that is impossible to classify. This piece builds itself before the audience, much like life in a garden that never stops growing.
The text, written by playwright Helena Tornero, fictionalises the story of Abril and her grandfather Guillem, united by their shared love of the family garden. After her grandfather's death, Abril discovers that the garden continues to flourish, a symbol of a legacy that endures beyond time and absence. With this powerful metaphor, the work explores the passage of time, memory and the possibility of reconnecting with a natural, more human and a slower pace.
The music, composed by Damien Bazin, Mario G. Cortizo and Tarrats herself, is the heart of the show. Tarrats' voice - a blend of singing, whispering and speaking - serves as an emotional guide on this intimate and sensorial journey.
The stage concept, created by director and visual artist Silvia Costa - making her debut at the Perelada Festival - transforms the Mirador del Castell into a scenic greenhouse. This interior garden invites the audience not only to observe, but to engage in a performative experience that stimulates sensitivity and active listening.
Hort / Garden is an invitation to pause, breathe and hear the heartbeat of life among tomatoes, silences and melodies. A piece that speaks of loss and continuity, and of nature as a space for resistance and memory.
