The new Campus Peralada with a focus on dance

Campus Peralada is a way for Festival de Peralada to reflect and connect. This year the programme runs in parallel to the Festival, and aims to answer the following question: "What is the role of dance today?”.

2021 has been marked by a health crisis that has disrupted social contact. At the festival, we want to respond to this through an educational programme featuring a series of workshops, actions and activities in primary care spaces, in order to reflect jointly on the role that culture, the body and dance play today, in a scenario where social contact is not yet possible. To do this, Campus Peralada, led by artist and educator Jordi Ferreiro, has been structured in three different branches: Campus Escola, Campus Salut and Campus Estiu. At the moment, only one of the activities carried out by Campus Escola has been presented, in which students and teachers from the Institut de Peralada took part in a workshop by Aimar Pérez, head of dance education at the Higher Dance Conservatory. The Campus Escola activity was brought to a close with the show “Dit, dit”. These workshops combine education and performance, turning students from passive learners into active participants.

The festival will soon announce the activities on the agenda for the other two lines of the Campus. The Campus was founded in 2016, for the 30th anniversary of the Festival. Since then, more than 1,500 students have been able to discover the Festival through its educational programme.
