MARÍA VALVERDE & MAHLER CHAMBER ORCHESTA & FRIENDS

GUSTAVO DUDAMEL

GUSTAVO DUDAMEL
His innate talent has elevated him to the category of genius. Resident conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orquesta Sinfònica Simón Bolívar, Dudamel was the youngest conductor to conduct the Vienna Philharmonic in the New Year Concert – an event reserved only for the greatest conductors – as well as being one of the most acclaimed conductors of his generation. His live performances captivate audiences and reproduce his philosophy of an optimistic and hopeful life filled with energy. A staunch champion of music education and social development through art, in 2009 he was considered by “Time” magazine to be one of the 100 most influential people in the world. The magic of the Venezuelan conductor will land this summer at the Castell de Peralada Festival, accompanied by the prestigious Mahler Chamber Orchestra in a unique programme that turns it into quite an event: A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Felix Mendelssohn with actress María Valverde as the narrator, and Gustav Mahler’s Titan, one of the most loved and performed symphonies by the great composer. Gustavo Dudamel has stated on several occasions that the first time he listened to a symphony orchestra, he was captivated. He has the same effect on the audiences who attend his concerts.
