The great baritone of words
The name of Ludovic Tézier is present in all the great opera houses worldwide. This prestigious baritone is a reference in his field within the great French tradition, following in the wake of the great Michel Dens, Gabriel Bacquier and Robert Massort. His great versatility means he can sing from Tannhäuser to the Russian repertoire and both the bel canto and the Verdi repertoires. His vocal quality, and the exquisite phrasing and line in the singing, have made him one of the world’s leading baritones and one of the heirs of Piero Cappuccilli, Leo Nucci, Renato Bruson and Giorgio Zancanaro, among others. His performances are rich in lyricism and dramatism, where the text reaches the spectator through extremely clear diction. He is a masterful narrator of exquisite elegance and impeccable technique. His roles never lose their articulation or the careful attention to the meaning of the words, which makes it a luxury to listen to him from the stalls. Born in Marseilles, he was recently named Chevalier des Arts et Lettres for his contribution to the dissemination of French culture. In Peralada, he will be making his début in the intimate setting of the Carme Church with a recital of opera arias and song to delight an audience of music-lovers.
