Album Presentation UNFOLLOW THE RULES

RUFUS WAINWRIGHT

RUFUS WAINWRIGHT
“Unfollow The Rules” is Rufus Wainwright’s ninth studio album and his first pop album since 2012. In this new work, we find the artist at the peak of his abilities, entering artistic maturity with passion, honesty and a new boldness he has acquired without forgoing any of his customary creativity and daring. Produced by Mitchell Froom at a number of legendary studios in Los Angeles, the album acts as a finale to Act I of an extraordinary career that, just like “Unfollow The Rules”, began in the studios of Los Angeles, but that is also the opening lines of an exciting new chapter. Inspired by middle age, married life, fatherhood, friends, loss, London and Laurel Canyon, songs like "Only The People That Love" and the energetic and symphonic "Hatred" see the talented singer-songwriter ready to take on new challenges, while at the same time, forcing himself to confront his past, making sense of how he has grown both in his role as a musician and as the happy family man he has become. The new album was heralded late last year by the first single, the rhythmically complex "Trouble In Paradise”, which was received with a great deal of attention by the international media and overwhelming acclaim by critics. The master returns to the festival with a new album made in Rufus Wainwright in a concert that his most devoted fans simply cannot miss.
