The Beautiful Miller

A Romantic Experience with Songs by Franz Schubert and Poetry

Die schöne Müllerin (“The Lovely Maid of the Mill”) is a romantic song cycle created 200 years ago by the Viennese composer Franz Schubert. A musical piece full of tradition, nature, craftsmanship and love, where a young miller is looking for a new job. He falls in love with the miller's daughter, but does not know how to confess his love. His best friend is a babbling brook. It is a symbol of the way of life and the end will embrace you tenderly. The story, full of romantic symbolism, presents the 20 songs divided into several acts, like a theatrical performance. All the songs are performed in their original language while the Catalan artist Francesc Torrent transforms the lyrics into a diary that gives an insight into the thoughts and imagination of the young protagonist. Based on a certain colour code in the songs, a culinary experience accompanies the journey, which takes place between the Peralada Winery and the Carme Church. A show that invites you to experience together what it is like to fall in love, to have your head in the clouds and to also experience jealousy and despair.
