MELODIES COMPARTIDES
This concert pays tribute to one of the profound and artistically significant friendships in Catalan musical history: the bond between cellist Pau Casals and soprano Conxita Badia. Despite the generational gap, their musical and personal connection was so deep that it shaped both their lives and many of the works they performed. Casals said, "when I compose for the female voice, I always think of Conxita's voice", while Badia remarked, "my breathing is Casals' bow."
This performance invites the audience to discover the soul of this relationship through a carefully selected repertoire, structured in a first part featuring works by Enrique Granados and European composers who inspired Badia and Casals’ shared summer afternoons, such as Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel, Schubert, Fauré, Strauss, Schumann, and Massenet, and a second part dedicated to compositions by Conxita Badia herself and Pau Casals.
More than a concert, it is a journey into a dimension where music becomes the language of a transformative friendship. An experience that celebrates the beauty, emotion and transcendence of a unique artistic bond, one that transforms music and moves generations.
