Throughout its history, the festival has gone outside the Peralada castle walls to spread its programme on the streets of the town that hosts it. Once again this year, Plaça Gran in Peralada will be hosting a new music concert based on folk culture. For the second year in a row, Baroque orchestra Vespres d’Arnadí, led by its conductor Dani Espasa, will be the stars of this free summer fiesta. Under the title of “Weightless bloom”, Vespres d’Arnadí presents a new concert-show with Baroque music and dance, where they will be performing works related to dance representative of the most important different styles of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries in Europe, with choreography by Anna Romaní. Reference will also be made during the show to the music and dance that was performed in Catalonia during the Baroque era; from music by Charles Desmazures that most certainly would have been played at Philip V’s wedding to Marie Louise of Savoy in Figueres in 1701, to the anonymous dance music that was found some years ago in a farmhouse in the Pyrenees. There will also be pieces by some of the leading composers in Europe, such as Arcangelo Corelli, Johann Joseph Fux and Jean-Féry Rebel, with his well-known work 'Les caractères de la danse'. A show that will invite audiences to let their imagination soar.
