PABLO FERRÁNDEZ
ECHOES OF MUSICAL EMOTION
Winner of the 15th International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and exclusive artist of SONY Classical, Pablo Ferrández is hailed as a "new genius of the cello" (Le Figaro). A captivating performer, he has been introduced by the Pittsburgh Symphony as "the next Yo-Yo Ma", whose "pop-idol magnetism, superb technique, and exhilarating musicality reveal a star in the making" (Los Angeles Times). Having become an international cello phenomenon, Ferrández has not only established himself as one of the most in-demand instrumentalists of his generation but also as a key figure in classical music, performing concerts with some of the most prestigious ensembles and conductors.
At the Easter edition of the Peralada Festival, this outstanding musician will be joined by pianist Luis del Valle, with whom he shares an extensive career in chamber music, regularly performing on stages around the world. Together, they will present a moving and varied programme featuring some of the most outstanding works of the classical repertoire. The concert will include Max Bruch's Kol Nidrei, a profound piece inspired by Jewish melodies; Ludwig van Beethoven's Sonata for Cello and Piano No. 3, known for its energy and complexity; Sergey Rakhmaninov's evocative Vocalise, famous for its melodic and emotional beauty; and Johannes Brahms' Sonata No. 1 in E minor for Cello, a masterpiece charged with expressiveness and virtuosity. An evening that promises to be a unique experience, where both musicians will take us on a journey through spirituality.
