IN PARADISUM
IN PARADISUM: A ROMANTIC JOURNEY THROUGH THE MUSIC OF SCHUBERT AND LISZT
This summer, the Perelada Festival presents a unique and captivating show: In Paradisum, a musical performance that brings together the lyrical depth of Schubert and the pianistic virtuosity of Liszt. Featuring Julian and Christoph Prégardien, father and son, pianist Saskia Giorgini and narrator and actress Alba Pujol.
The show delves into the heart of Central European Romanticism, a period in which the journey serves as an essential metaphor for the human condition. The music of Franz Schubert (1797-1828) takes centre stage in the programme, with Lieder evoking the transition between life and death, such as Der Wanderer, Frühlingsglaube and Im Abendrot. Melancholy and introspective pieces trace a poetic path towards eternity, culminating in Totengräbers Heimweh, where the gravedigger reflects on the burden of life.
This inner journey also leads us to contemplate water as a symbol of passage and mystery, with works such as Schubert's Meeres Stille and Auf dem Wasser zu singen which evoke the figure of Charon. The music of Franz Liszt (1811-1886), with pieces such as The Mournful Gondola, transports us to other landscapes, from Swiss lakes to Venetian canals, in an atmosphere full of nostalgia, spirituality and beauty.
A unique opportunity to experience the emotional power of romantic music through the hands of two great masters of the genre. A sonorous tribute to a passionate and transcendental era.
